Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Studies on skin and eye irritation are available on LiDNNSA, DNNSA and BaDNNSA. These studies are indicative of moderate to severe irritation to the skin and eyes. Based on the results of the studies on DNNSA (severe eye irritant), BaDNNSA (skin irritant) and the mono-salt LiDNNSA (skin and eye irritant), it was concluded in a worst case approach that a read-across is possible and that NaDNNSA is expected to be irritating to the skin and eyes. This outcome is confirmed by skin and eye irritation studies on NaDNNSA, where a formulation containing a corrosive substance induced skin and eye irritation.

Additional information

The available studies contain sufficient information to be used for classification and labelling.

Justification for selection of skin irritation / corrosion endpoint:
Studies on analogues were conducted prior to GLP regulations but used methods generally consistent with accepted procedures. All studies are of equal quality and can be used in a weight of evidence. The results of these studies are comparable and show irritation to the skin

Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: irritating

Effects on eye irritation: irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the outcome of the available tests, the test substance needs to classified as skin irritant (CLP category 2, H315: Causes skin

irritation) and severe eye irritant (CLP category 2, H319: Causes serious eye irritation).
