Description of key information

Predicted low potential of bioconcentration for 5-methoxy-2-methylsulphanilic acid.

Low potential of bioconcentration is predicted for 5-methoxy-2-methylsulphanilic acid by BCFBAF v.3.01 (log BCF = 0.5; BCF = 3.162 l/kg wet-wt).

To support this predicted value we consider a compound with similar structure, 4-aminotoluene-3-sulfonic acid. As reported in SIDS Dossier of 4-aminotoluene-3-sulfonic acid approved at SIAM 16 (27 -30 May 2003) with reference to METI JAPAN, Biodegradation and bioaccumulation data of existing chemicals based on the CSCL Japan,1992, 4-aminotoluene-3-sulfonic acid shows low bioaccumulation characteristics (BCF < 4 at low concentration-0.2 mg/l- and BCF < 0.4 at high concentration-2 mg/l). The test was performed on Cyprinus carpio according to OECD 305 C.
