Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

A.13. Pyrophoric properties of solids and liquids: non flammable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

A.10: The test item could not be ignited applying a flame as ignition source for 2 minutes. The product has to be classifed neither as highly flammable solid according to Directive 67/548/EEC, nor as readily combustible solid in class 4.1 according to the UN-Transport Regulation and nor as flammable solid according to GHS/CLP-Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.7.

A.11: In accordance with Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 Annex XI a test according to A.11 (flammability; gases) is not considered to be required, since the test substance is a solid substance with a melting range of 283 - 287°C and a decomposition temperature of ~420°C, and therefore not a gas at room temperature.

A.12: Testing for flammability in contact with water is not considered to be required, because the substance does not contain groups that might lead to a reaction with water or damp air, leading to the development of dangerous amounts of gas or gases which may be highly flammable (in accordance with section 1, Annex XI of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 (REACH)).

A.13: In accordance with Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 Annex XI a test according to A.13 (pyrophoric properties of solids and liquids) is not considered to be required, since the test substance is stable at ambient temperature. The substance does not contain any chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming in contact with air at room temperature (approx 20°C). Furthermore, experience in handling shows that the substance does not ignite in contact with air.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test item does not need to be classified as flammable according to Directive 67/548 EEC and its subsequent amendments and according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and subsequent regulations.
