Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The boiling temperature of the test materials has been determined to be 220 °C - 420 ° at 101.6 kPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The determination was carried out by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) using the procedure specified in ASTM E537-86, Method A2 Boiling Temperature of Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Samples of Lanolin Alcohols (Super Hartolan & Argowax) were prepared for analysis using Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSD) pans. The samples were analysed using a DSC using temperature prgram of 20 °C per minute. The objective was to determine physical properties for both chemicals for REACH data.

From the measurements obtained the boiling point and decomposition characteristics have been estimated. As the samples are a complex mixture (UVCB) rather than pure materials the boiling point and decomposition points can only be estimated as a range rather than an actual result.
