First-aid measures
Inhalation: Move the victim to fresh air. Contact physician if large amounts have been inhaled, or if the discomfort persists.
Skin contact: Remove the victim from the contaminated area. Wash immediately with plenty of water. Wash skin with soap and water. Remove the victim's clothes and shoes.
Contact with eyes: Immediately rinse eyes with water for at least 5 minutes (hold the eyes open, remove any contact lenses). Contact a physician if the irritation persists.
Ingestion: Drink plenty of water or milk. Contact a physician.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable fire extinguishing media: Use regular dry chemical extinguisher.
Fire extinguishers that should not be used for safety reasons: Water must NOT be used.
Fire- and explosion hazard The product is not flammable. Toxic gases of fluor (HF) can develop in case of fire/heating over 600°C, and if water is added.
Personal protection for firefighters: Fire-fighters must use special fire-fighting equipment.
Accidental release measures
Safety precautions for protection of personnel: Avoid inhalation of dust. Ensure that every single workstation has adequate ventilation, and that the workplace, the construction and equipment comply to all statutory requirements. The personnel should also use protective equipment in compliance with current instructions for protective equipment. See section 8.
Safety precautions to protect the environment: Prevent the product from spreading and leaking into watercourses and drainage.
Suitable methods for cleaning-up: Sweep up without generating dust and keep in appropriate containers. Collect spillage in suitable and tightly sealed containers. The material is not hazardous waste.
Handling and storage
Handling: Handle the product so that formation of dust is at a minimum. Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not eat or smoke while using the product. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Personal hygiene is important.
Storage: Store in a dry, well-ventilated place in closed containers. Should not be stored in close proximity to acid.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Precautionary methods: Ensure adequate ventilation. If this is not enough to keep dust concentrations in the air under exposure limits, suitable breathing apparatus must be used. Smoking prohibited.
Breathing protection: During handling that generates dust, a breathing mask with filter P2 or P3 must be used. Wear fresh-air supplied breathing equipment in small spaces.
Hand protection: Use protective gloves by Barricade or Responder when exposed to the material. Penetration time over 8 hours.
Eye protection: Use protective glasses with side shields. Never use contact lenses in the area where the product is handled, since they can absorb dust and irritate the eyes.
Other skin protection: Wear suitable protective clothing.
Stability and reactivity
Stability: Stable under normal conditions. Avoid high temperatures (over 600°C in dry state and 300°C in moist condition), except in professional use.
Reactivity: Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents, acids and water. Aluminium fluoride slowly dissolves in strong sulfuric acid with the release of
hydrogen fluoride, and in strong alkaline water solutions, aluminat is formed. Aluminium fluoride is slowly decomposed by melted alkalies, with
the formation of fluorides and aluminat.
Dangerous decomposition products: When the product is heated, it decomposes and toxic gas of hydrogen fluoride can form, especially when water is present.
Disposal considerations
Removal of remains and waste: Not classified as hazardous waste. Consult waste disposal method with responsible authority and local regulations. Waste should be disposed in a responsible manner and delivered to an authorized waste station.
