Additional information

According to the EU C&L Dossier and the OECD SIDS draft 2007 no data is available for nickel carbonate and -hydroxide. However, based on the consistent evidence of developmental toxicity of nickel compounds (stillbirth, postimplantation / perinatal lethality) in rats at dose levels not causing maternal toxicity, nickel carbonate is classified for developmental toxicity as Repr. Cat. 2; R61 (GHS: Repr. 1B).

Fertility: No effects have been found in generation studies on nickel chloride or nickel sulphate. There is some evidence for effects on male sex organs in rats and mice (found in limited studies after oral, inhalation or subcutaneous administration of nickel chloride or - sulphate.)

Short description of key information:
Nickel carbonate hydroxide is classified according to Annex I to Directive 67/548/EEC with T / Repr. Cat. 2 / R61
