Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance itself (short name FADMA C10) has not been tested in the algae toxicity test (OECD 201).

However, OECD 201-results are available for a 50:50 mixture of FADMA C8 and FADMA C10, demonstrating an EC50 = 16.1 mg/l as well as for FADMA C12 showing to be more toxic, exhibiting an EC50 = 0.805 mg/l. Based on an interpolation between the shorter and the longer chain-length, i.e. by geometric mean of C8-10-FADMA and C12-FADMA data an EC50 = 3.6 mg/l has been deduced for FADMA C10 by read-across approach. This value is used for classification.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
16.06 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
4.17 mg/L

Additional information

A reliable study according to OECD test guideline 201 under GLP with the alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata assessing the toxicity of a mixture of the registered substance and a close homologue with a C8 instead of a C10 chain, to algae is available. The test substance was applied directly (no vehicle was used) for 72h in a static freshwater system. Good agreement of nominal and measured concentrations was verified analytically. All validity criteria were met. The growth rate EC50 (72h) of the test substance was 16.06 mg/l, while the EC10 was 4.17 mg/L.

Results are read-across to the registered substance.
