Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance was stable at pH 4 for 5 days at 50°C. Hydrolysis took place at pH 7 and pH 9 at all temperatures tested with increasing rate at higher temperatures and pH.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
872.8 h
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The substance is an ester and as such is resistant to hydrolysis at pH4. The rate of hydrolysis increases with increasing pH. At natural pH (7) and at 25°C, the half-life is relatively long at 872.8 hours (36.4 days). However, at pH 9, the half-life is only 12 hours (0.5 days) at the same temperature. The degradation products are acrylic acid and choline chloride.
