Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice: First-aider must protect himself. Place affected clothing in a sealed bag for subsequent decontamination.
Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Consult a physician after significant exposure.
Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water.
Eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Get immediate medical advise/attention.
Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Do not give anything to drink.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray. Foam. Powder.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: None known. Use extinguishing measures that are appropraite to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.
Specific hazards during the fire fighting: Risks of dust explosion.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: Special protective equipment for fire-fighters. Self contained breathing apparatus (EN 133).
Specific fire fighting methods: Cool containers / tanks with water spray.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Do not breathe dust. For further information refer to section "Exposure controls / personal protection". Wear proof-boots. Mark the contaminated with signs and prevent access to unauthorized personnel. Signal word. Stop leaking if safe to do so.
Environmental precautions: Do not allow uncontrolled discharge of product into the environment.
Methods for cleaning or taking up:
Recovery: Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Decontamination/Cleaning:
Decontaminate and wash the floor with: Sodium hydroxide (2 to 5%). Wash off with plenty of water.
Disposal: Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".
Handling and storage
Handling:
Technical measures: Electrical bonding of pneumatic conveyor. Earth the equipment. Blanket with inert gas.
Advice on safe handling and usage: Protect from moisture. Avoid dust formation. Avoid contact with water. Provide adequate ventilation.
Storage:
Storage conditions:
Recommended: Protect against light. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Keep container tightly closed and dry.
Incompatible products: alkalis and caustic products. Oxidizing materials.
Packaging: Store in original container. Flexible container lined with a plastic film. Paper bag lined with a plastic film.
Packaging materials:
Recommended: Stainless steel. Plastic materials (polyethylene, polypropylene).
Not suitable: Certain plastic materials. Steel.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.
Control measures:
Engineering measures: Avoid splashes. Maintain air concentrations below occupational exposure standards. Extract at emission point.
Personal protective equipment:
Respiratory protection: In case of dust or aerosol formation use respirator with an approved filter.
Hand protection: The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also, takes into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. Gloves must be inspected prior to use.
Eye protection: Safety glasses. In case of contact through splashing: wear face-shield and protective suit.
Skin and body protection: Protective equipment must be chosen according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the workplace. Remove and wash contaminated clothing.
Hygiene measures: Emergency equipment immediately accessible, with instructions for use. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Use clean, well-maintained personal protective equipment. Store personal protective equipment in a clean location away from the work area. Shower or bathe at the end of working. Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Wash hands before breaks, immediately after handling the product and at the end of the day.
Protective measures: Protective equipment must be chosen according to current CEN standards and in cooperation with the supplier of protective equipment. Selection of personal protective equipment should be based on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the protective equipment relative to the task(s) to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and/or potential risks during use.
Stability and reactivity
Stability: Stable under recommended storage conditions.
Conditions to avoid: Risk of dust ignition in air at concentrations greater than 30 g/m3. Decomposes on heating.
Materials to avoid: Alkalis and caustic products. Oxidizing materials.
Decompositon of product: At high temperatures releases flammable vapours. On combustion or on thermal decomposition (pyrolysis) releases toxic vapours (Carbon oxides (CO + CO2)).(Phenol).
Disposal considerations
Product disposal:
Interdiction: Do not let product enter drains.
Advice on cleaning and disposal of packaging:
Advice: Completely empty the packaging prior to decontamination.
Destruction/Disposal: Incinerate bags and flexible containers.
Note: Dispose off in accordance with local regulations.
