Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Seek medical attention if any
symptoms develop.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation
develops, contact a physician.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water for 15 minutes. If irritation develops,
contact a physician.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Small fires - carbon dioxide, dry chemical.
Large fires - water spray or alcohol type film forming foam.
Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Workers should wear protective clothing as described in
Section 2.3.1 to avoid skin and eye contact.
Contain spill by diking, covering with plastic etc. to
minimise area of contamination. Spillage should then be
disposed of, preferably by destruction.
Handling and storage
Handling: Workers should wear a half-face respirator fitted with an
organic vapour cartridge and a dust pre-filter (in
accordance with HSE-approved European Standard prEN 143).
Gloves made of an impervious material (e.g. neoprene) should
be worn; check regularly for discolouration and punctures
recommended.
The area should be ventilated by a local exhaust system.
Storage: THPE should be stored dry under ambient conditions in an
upright fibreboard box or drum with a plastic liner or in
the poly-lined white craft paper bag it was supplied in.
Ensure containers are correctly labelled.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The notified substance is supplied to importers in white,
craftpaper bags that have a 0.5 mm HDPE film liner. These
bags contain 25 kg of notified substance. 20 bags are
shipped in a 48 x 36 inch corrugated cardboard over-pack.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is possible. The substance may be
recrystallised from methanol/water. (A623)
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effects.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a controlled landfill site is possible. (A650)
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method, using an incineration temperature of
1000-1200 deg C. (A665)
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: No unfavourable effects to water purification systems are
envisaged, no pre-treatment is considered necessary.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
