Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance does not inhibit microorganisms of activated sludge at 100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
100 mg/L

Additional information

The substance did not inhibit the degradation of the positive reference substance sodium benzoate when added at a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L in the available study on the ready biodegradability (OECD 301F) of the 3,5,5-trimethylhexyl acetate (Givaudan 1998). According to the ECHA guideline R.7b this concentration can be used as the NOEC in the hazard assessment and further testing on microbial toxicity is not required.

Furthermore, as the substance is readily biodegradable and the applied test concentrations are above the range of concentrations that can be expected in the influent of a sewage treatment plant, no activated sludge respiration inhibition testing would be necessary according to column 2 of annex VIII.
