Test material

Constituent 1
Chemical structure
Reference substance name:
Geraniol
EC Number:
203-377-1
EC Name:
Geraniol
Cas Number:
106-24-1
Molecular formula:
C10H18O
IUPAC Name:
(2E)-3,7-dimethylocta-2,6-dien-1-ol
Details on test material:
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): Geraniol
- Analytical purity: > 95 %

Method

Details on study design:
- Using a glass tuberculin syringe, 0.05 g of the test compound was transferred to the 15 mm patches which was then applied to the back of each subject for 48 hours.
- Patches were removed and sites swabbed with dry gauze to remove residual test material.
- Reactions were read 30 minutes after patch removal and if necessary at 72, 96, and 120 hours after patch removal
- Vehicle: acetone
- Concentration: 32%

Results and discussion

Results:
Geraniol was severe irritating (Score 3) at 32% in acetone
