No studies were available for assessing the skin sensitisation potential of sodium ethyl xanthate or other xanthates.

A case of occupational allergic contact dermatitis to carbamates and xanthates is reported. The authors believe that xanthates and carbamates may cross-react because they share a common dithio grup. (Sasseville D., Muhn C., Al-Sowaidi M., McCill University Health Centre, Montral, QC, Canada)

This endpoint is waived in accordance with Column 2 of ANNEX VII , COLUMN 2; 8.3. Step 2 does not need to be conducted if the available information indicates that the substance should be classified for skin sensitisation or corrosivity. Sodium 0-ethyl dithiocarbonate is classified as a corrosive to the skin.
