Waiver: In accordance with Annex X of the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 REACH concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), phototransformation in air is not a mandatory information requirement.

 

Despite not being a mandatory process calculated atmospheric oxidation potential (AOP) data for representative constituents of the Hydrocarbons, C9-C14, aliphatics (2-25% aromatics) is presented. Indirect photochemical degradation of hydrocarbons, C9-C14 Aliphatics (2 -25% aromatics), as mediated by OH-attack, is estimated to have a half-life of 0.09 to 1.43 days, or 1.10 to 17.25 hours, based on a 12-hour sunlight day, a rate of 7.4×10-12to 116.3×10-12cm3/mol/sec, and an average OH-concentration of 1.5×106OH/cm3. A 12-hour day half-life value normalizes degradation to a standard daylight period during which hydroxyl radicals needed for photolysis are generated in the atmosphere.

In addition The rate constant of photodegradation in air for tetradecan-1-ol has been calculated using the SRC AOPWIN program.

Photochemical degradation of tetradecan-1-ol is estimated to have a half life of 18.3 hours at an estimated rate of 21.02050E-12 cm3/molecule.sec. The half life is calculated from the rate constant, and assumes an OH radical concentration of 5E+05 OH molecules/cm3)
