Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The log Pow of the test item is > 8.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The HPLC method according to OECD 117 was applied to measure the log Pow of CAS 91744 -38 -6. Due to analytical difficulties the log Pow value was estimated by using literature data for free citric and lactic acid as well as for fatty acids and glycerol. Further on the substance consists of appr. 50 % of partial glycerides of which the monoglycerides have log Pow of 5.2 (C16) to 6.6 (C18) and the di- and triglycerides have values above 12.

The log Pow values of citric di- and triesters of partial glycerides are estimated by EPISuite to be also above 11.

The overall log Pow of the test substance was estimated to be > 8.

The same approach can be applied for the analogue substance CAS 91744-39-7. Both compounds are UVCB substances (purity: 100 %) with same chain length (C16-C18) and same functional groups:

-      Mono-, di- and tri-, hydrogenated groups

-      Citrate groups

Both substances only differ in the respective cation, which is the potassium cation (CAS 91744-38-6 (Glycerides, C16-18 mono-, di- and tri-, hydrogenated, citrates, potassium salts)

and the sodium cation (

CAS 91744-39-7 (Glycerides, C16-18 mono-, di- and tri-, hydrogenated, citrates, sodium salts), respectively.

Thus, the result for CAS 91744-38-6 (log Pow > 8) is also applicable to CAS 91744-39-7.
