Description of key information

The test item DV6850 is not oxidising.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

The oxidising properties of the test item DV6850 were determined in a valid GLP study according to EU method A.17.

Dried test substance (ca. 4 g) and dried cellulose (ca. 2 g) were thoroughly mixed and formed into a cone-shaped pile on non-combustible surface. A gas burner flame was applied and the vigour and duration of the combustion recorded. As burning of the pile was incomplete, test substance mixtures with cellulose in the proportions 1:1 and 1:2 were tested. None of the cones combusted fully. The experiment was concluded and the test substance designated non-oxidising.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Piles of test substance and cellulose (ratio 2:1, 1:1 and 1:2) were exposed to a gas burner flame and the vigour and duration of the combustion was recorded. None of the piles combusted fully. The experiment was concluded and the test substance designated non-oxidising. A classification for oxidising properties hence is not required.
