Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General information

In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately.

Inhalation

Move the exposed person to fresh air at once. Keep the affected person warm and at rest. Get prompt medical attention. Perform artificial

respiration if breathing has stopped. For breathing difficulties oxygen may be necessary.

Ingestion

Immediately rinse mouth and provide fresh air. Drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting. NEVER MAKE AN UNCONSCIOUS

PERSON VOMIT OR DRINK FLUIDS! Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Skin contact

Remove affected person from source of contamination. Promptly wash contaminated skin with soap or mild detergent and water. Promptly

remove clothing if soaked through and wash as above. Get medical attention immediately!

Eye contact

Remove victim immediately from source of exposure. Promptly wash eyes with plenty of water while lifting the eye lids. Continue to rinse

for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately. Continue to rinse.

Fire-fighting measures

Fire can be extinguished using: Foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder. Larger fires: Water spray. Unsuitable extinguishing media. Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire. Containers can burst violently when heated, due to excess pressure build-up. Toxic gases/vapours/

fumes of: Sulphurous gases (SOx). Carbon monoxide (CO). Carbon dioxide (CO2). Cool containers exposed to flames with water until well after the

fire is out. Avoid water in straight hose stream; will scatter and spread fire. Keep run-off water out of sewers and water sources. Dike for water

control. Dike and collect extinguishing water. Protective equipment for fire-fighters Self contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire.

Accidental release measures

Warn everybody of potential hazards and evacuate if necessary. Avoid inhalation of vapours and contact with skin and eyes. In case of

inadequate ventilation, use respiratory protection. Wear protective clothing. Do not discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

Spillages or uncontrolled discharges into watercourses must be IMMEDIATELY alerted to the Environmental Agency or other appropriate regulatory

body.Neutralise spilled material with crushed limestone, soda ash or lime. Collect in containers and seal securely. Remove containers and flush

area with water. Ventilate well.

Handling and storage

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Avoid contact with skin and

eyes. Wear full protective clothing for prolonged exposure and/or high concentrations. Provide adequate ventilation, including appropriate

local extraction, to ensure that the defined occupational exposure limit is not exceeded. If ventilation is insufficient, suitable respiratory

protection must be provided. Good personal hygiene is necessary. Wash hands and contaminated areas with water and soap before

leaving the work site. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.  Store in tightly closed original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Do not store near heat sources or expose to high temperatures. Protect from freezing

and direct sunlight.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Process conditions

Use only with adequate ventilation. Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep exposure to

airborne contaminants below any recommended or statutory limits. The substance shall be rigorously contained by technical means during

its whole lifecycle including manufacture, purification, cleaning and maintenance of equipment or vessels, waste disposal or purification

and storage. Procedural and control technologies shall be used that minimise emission and any resulting exposure. In case of accident and

where waste is generated, procedural and/or control technologies shall be used to minimise emissions and the resulting exposure during

purification or cleaning and maintenance procedures. Only properly trained and authorised personnel shall handle the substance. In case of

cleaning and maintenance works, special procedures such as purging and washing shall be applied before the system is opened and

entered.

Engineering measures

Work in fume cupboard. Provide adequate ventilation, including appropriate local extraction, to ensure that the defined occupational

exposure limit is not exceeded.

Respiratory equipment

If ventilation is insufficient, suitable respiratory protection must be provided.

Hand protection

Chemical resistant gloves required for prolonged or repeated contact.

Eye protection

If risk of splashing, wear safety goggles or face shield.

Other Protection

Provide eyewash station and safety shower.

Hygiene measures

When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash promptly if skin becomes wet or contaminated. Wash hands at the end of each work shift

and before eating, smoking and using the toilet.

Skin protection

Wear apron or protective clothing in case of contact.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Formation of explosive mixtures with: Air. Violent reaction with: Oxidising materials. Acids. Strong alkalis. Ammonia.

Chemical stability

Stable under normal temperature conditions and recommended use.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Formation of explosive mixtures with: Air. Violent reaction with: Strong oxidising agents. Strong acids. Strong alkalis. Ammonia.

Hazardous Polymerisation

Will not polymerise.

Conditions to avoid

Water, moisture. Avoid heat, flames and other sources of ignition.

Incompatible materials/ Materials To Avoid

Oxidising materials. Ammonia. Strong alkalis. Strong acids.

Hazardous decomposition products

Fire or high temperatures create: Vapours/gases/fumes of: Carbon monoxide (CO). Carbon dioxide (CO2). Sulphurous gases (SOx).

Decomposes in water to sulfuric acid; corrosive to metals.

Disposal considerations

Waste is classified as hazardous waste. Disposal to licensed waste disposal site in accordance with the local Waste Disposal Authority. Dispose of

waste and residues in accordance with local authority requirements.
