Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

1 -Ethylpiperidine (CAS 766 -09 -6) is readily biodegradable. The substance is not classified as PBT or vPvB. Direct and indirect exposure to soil is unlikely and an adsorption is not expected since the substance has a log Koc value less or equal than 3 (log Koc = 2.4; measured; BAYER AG 2006/006/06). Therefore, no tests on terrestrial organisms are provided.

In Annex X of the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 REACH concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), it is suggested, that in case of long term toxicity testing to birds "any need for testing should be carefully considered taking into account the large mammalian dataset that is usually available at this tonnage level." Furthermore, ECHA (2008) states in the "Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7c" that "given that mammalian toxicity is considered in detail for human health protection, the need for additional data for birds must be considered very carefully – new tests are a last resort in the data collection process." Taking this into account long-term or reproductive toxicity tests on birds do not need to be conducted due to the facts that a mammalian dataset is available and the chemical has a low bioaccumulation potential.
