Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No chronic studies on inverterbrates are available for octanolamine.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Octanolamine is readily biodegradable and has very low potential for bioaccumulation (log Kow<2). The risk characterisation shows that the PEC/PNEC ratio for freshwater is clearly <1 with a PNEC derived from acute data on three trophic levels. According to REACH Annex IX requirements, long-term toxicity testing shall only be considered when the chemical safety assessment indicates the need for further investigations. Hence, long-term testing in fish can be waived.
