Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Treat symptomatically. Get medical attention if symptoms persist.

Eyes: Any material that contacts the eye should be washed out immediately with water. If easy to do,

remove contact lenses. Get medical attention if symptoms persist. If molten material contacts

the eye, immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention

immediately.

Skin: Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention if

symptoms occur. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Destroy or thoroughly clean

contaminated shoes. If burned by contact with molten material, cool as quickly as possible. Do

not peel material from skin. Get medical attention.

Ingestion: Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Do NOT induce vomiting. If victim is

fully conscious, give a cupful of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

If vomiting occurs, keep head lower than the hips to help prevent aspiration.

Note to Physicians: Burns should be treated as thermal burns. The material will come off as healing

occurs; therefore, immediate removal from the skin is not necessary.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing Media: water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, foam

Special Fire-Fighting Procedures: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

USE WATER WITH CAUTION. Material will float and may ignite on surface of water. Use water

spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool.

Hazardous Combustion Products: carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Combustible.

Sensitivity to Static Discharge: Static electricity with associated hazards can build up during the

handling or mixing of nonpolar hydrocarbon solvents such as xylene or toluene.

Accidental release measures

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Eliminate all ignition sources. Absorb spill with vermiculite

or other inert material, then place in a container for chemical waste.

For Large Spills: Flush spill area with water spray. Prevent runoff from entering drains, sewers, or

streams. Dike for later disposal.

Handling and storage

Personal Precautionary Measures: Avoid breathing high vapor concentrations. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Avoid contact with molten material. Do not taste or swallow. Use only with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling.

Prevention of Fire and Explosion: Keep away from heat and flame. Keep from contact with oxidizing materials.

Storage: Keep container closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Ventilation:

Good general ventilation (typically 10 air changes per hour) should be used. Ventilation rates should be matched to conditions. If applicable, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to maintain airborne levels below recommended exposure limits. If exposure limits have not been established, maintain airborne levels to an acceptable level.

Respiratory Protection:

If engineering controls do not maintain airborne concentrations below recommended exposure limits (where applicable) or to an acceptable level (in countries where exposure limits have not been established), an approved respirator must be worn. In the United States of America, if respirators are used, a program should be instituted to assure compliance with OSHA Standard 63 FR 1152, January 8, 1998. Respirator type: Air-purifying respirator with an appropriate, government approved (where applicable), air-purifying filter, cartridge or canister. Contact health and safety professional or manufacturer for specific information.

Eye Protection:

It is a good industrial hygiene practice to minimize eye contact. Wear a face shield when working with molten material.

Skin Protection:

It is a good industrial hygiene practice to minimize skin contact., For operations where prolonged or repeated skin contact may occur, chemical-resistant gloves should be worn. Contact health and safety professional or manufacturer for specific information., When material is heated, wear gloves to protect against thermal burns.

Recommended Decontamination Facilities: eye bath, washing facilities

Stability and reactivity

Stability:

Not fully evaluated. Materials containing similar structural groups are normally stable.

Incompatibility:

Material reacts with strong oxidizing agents.

Hazardous Polymerization:

Will not occur.

Disposal considerations

Discharge, treatment, or disposal may be subject to national, state, or local laws. Incinerate. Since emptied containers retain product residue, follow label warnings even after container is emptied.
