Description of key information

Although the log Koc indicates a potential for partitioning to soil and sediment this is applicable only for the short life of 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl peroxyneodecanoate in its parent form. Thermal instability and rapid hydrolysis will result in multiple degradation products see section on additional ecotoxicological information.. The main degradation product 2,2,4 trimethypentanol is not readily biodegradable and is likely to persist significantly longer than the parent peroxide. The higher solubility (1716 mg/L) and low predicted Log Koc of 1.9, indicate that partitioning to the water phase is more likely for the main degradation product. Should further testing be proposed or required in the future this should be considered. The applicability of the transport and distribution data generated in the Eusis risk assessment for the parent should also likewise be considered carefully for its relevance.
