Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
The substance is a white waxy solid at 101325 Pa and 20 °C.
The value of melting point taken by the certificate of analysis is 32 °C (at 1013 hPa). The boiling point was not calculated; esters of fatty acids esterified with alcohols ≥ C3 and having a molecular weight exceeding 300 amu have a boiling point > 300 °C and decompose before boiling. Taking this into account the substance is expected to have a boiling point higher than 300 °C and even decompose before boiling point.
The density and the vapour pressure of the substance was estimated by using calculated data (SPARC v4.6) for the single boundary components C8 and C18. The density and the vapour pressure were 0.9 - 0.94 g/cm3 and 2.53.10-6 - 5.71.10-15 Pa respectively. The LogPow was also estimated by using the calculated data (KOWWIN v1.68) of the single bounday components C8 and C18 and was found to be 8.09 and higher than 10 respectively, thus it is expected to have a greater affinity to the lipid phase. The substance was found to be non-water soluble since its water solubility was < 0.15 mg/l at 20 °C and pH 6.3 -6.5 and no dissociation properties are expected. Furthermore, the substance was found to be non-flammable and has an auto-ignition temperature of 380 °C. The substance is not considered neither explosive nor oxidising and does not contain any chemical groups that could render the substance as a self-reactive. In addition, ths substance is not expected to be corrosive to metals or self-heating.
Analogue substances used for the estimation of density, vapour pressure and partition coefficient are either chemicals forming part of a related category of structurally similar fatty acid esters or precursors/breakdown products of category members (i.e. alcohol and fatty acid moieties). Further justification for read-across is given in section 13 of IUCLID.
