- Endpoint:
- vapour pressure
- Type of information:
- other: Collection of data
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- data from handbook or collection of data
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- The vapour pressure of 3-(triethoxysilyl)propiononitrile at 20ºC was calculated from a temperature-vapour pressure correlation that was developed by the AIChE DIPPR® using peer-reviewed experimental data measured at temperatures ranging from 0 to 93ºC. Original test procedures and conditions used to measure the vapour pressures were not identified in the AIChE DIPPR Project 801® Database.

- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- Vapour pressure:
- 1.9 Pa
- Conclusions:
- A vapour pressure of 1.9 Pa at 20°C was reported for the substance in a collection of reliable data which has been subject to peer-review and in which the original data sources are traceable. The result is considered to be reliable.

- 20 °C
Additional information
A vapour pressure of 1.9 Pa at 20°C was calculated for the substance from a temperature-vapour pressure correlation using a peer-reviewed data at a temperature range of 0-93°C (DIPPR 2006). The result is considered to be reliable and is selected as key study.
In addition, vapour pressure values of 1900 Pa at 20°C and 2200 Pa at 25°C were obtained for the substance using an isoteniscope method (Chilworth 2005). However, these results were disregarded because during the experiment, the test samples were not completely degassed and as a result the measured vapour pressures are considered not reliable. The purity of the test sample was stated as 98%. Presence of volatile impurities such as ethanol in a sample will significantly increase the vapour pressure of the substance.
In a secondary source to which reliability could not be assigned, vapour pressure of <133 Pa at 20°C was reported for the substance.
In contact with water, the substance hydrolyses to form 3-(trihydroxysilyl)propiononitrile and ethanol.
A vapour pressure of 6.7E-05 Pa at 25°C was determined for the hydrolysis product using a relevant QSAR estimation method.
Ethanol has a reported vapour pressure of 7910 Pa at 25°C (Daubert, T E and Danner R P (1985)).
