Description of key information

The substance is neither inherently nor readily biodegradable.

Screening studies are available for both ready and inherent biodegradability (BASF AG, 1990; MITI, 2013). The rates of degradation in both tests were found to be low and the substance is considered to be neither readily nor inherently biodegradable. These results are supported by different QSAR models (BIOWIN v4.10 of EPI Suite v4.10 and OECD 301C v09.13 of OASIS Catalogic v5.11.19).

As the substance has been found to be neither readily nor inherently biodegradable in OECD guideline tests, no significant degradation is expected in the environment. This is supported by the chemical structure of the substance, which indicates a low potential for biodegradation. Hence, no further biodegradation testing has been conducted as it is not expected to provide any additional information which will significantly alter the assessment.
