LC50s were calculated (using the binomial method) from measured concentrations at 0h and 96h.

Analytical monitoring was performed, and the result relate to measured concentrations as the recovery rate was in the range between 32% and 93%. The large variation in the recovery rates may be based on incomplete mixing of the test substance in the test vessels at test start. The test substance was direct weighed into the test vessels and vigorously stirred afterwards with a glass rod. At test end the recovery rates increase.

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
mortality in control <10%
Conclusions:
TCPP has an acute toxicty toward fish (Pimephales promelas) of 96h-LC50 of 51 mg/L (measured).
Executive summary:

The study is no guideline study but is well documented and meets generally accepted scientific prinicples. The toxicity study towards (Pimephales promelas) was conducted under static condictions. TCPP was directly applied to the test water. An analytical monitoring with GC-MS was performed bt leaded to small recoveries. A sthe recoveries increase with incubation time, it is assumed that TCPP was not dipersed probably at the beginning of the test (0 h). As TCPP is hydrolytically stable a abiotic degradation can be excluded.

The water quality is documented during the test duration. Mortality <10% is fulfilled as validity criterion.

Conclusions:
In a test with TCPP to fish (Danio rerio) a LC50 of 56.2 mg/L after 96 hours is obtained.
Executive summary:

The study was conducted according UBA-Verfahrensvorschlag: "Letale Wirkung beim Zebrabaerbling Brachydanio rerio, LC0, LC50, LC100; 48-96 h" (Mai 1984) (Bayer AG, 1991) without deviations. An analytical monitoring with gas chromatography was performed. The values obtained are based on nominal concentrations as TCPP is stable in media within the incubation time and shows high recoveries. LC0 and LC100 were detected directly. LC50 value is calculated.

Description of key information

OECD 203 (eqiv.)(Meeks, 1985): 96h LC50 = 51 mg/L (meas.)
OECD 203 (equiv.)(Bayer AG, 1991): 96h LC50 = 56.2 mg/L (meas.)

Additional information

There are several tests on toxicity to fish towards different species available. The most sensitive species is Pimephales promelas, resulting in the lowest effect concentration of 51 mg/l. Analytical monitoring was performed, and the result relates to measured concentrations as the recovery rate was in the range between 32% and 93%. The increasing recovery rate over test duration may be based on incomplete mixing of TCPP in the test vessels at test start. The test substance was directly weighed into the test vessels and vigorously stirred afterwards with a glass rod. At test end the recovery rates shows that the test substance was completely mixed. The results on analytical monitoring obtained in the toxicity test towards Danio rerio show stability of TCPP during the test. TCPP was directly weighed into the test vessels, but treated with an ultra turrax for 60 seconds. The recovery rates at the beginning of the test ranged from 91 % to 94 % showing already complete mixing at test start. The result obtained for Pimephales promelas is considered to be reliable, as it is in good agreement with the result determined for Danio rerio.
