Key result
Water solubility:
0 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Temp.:
20.4 °C
pH:
>= 8 - <= 8.1
Details on results:
Test substance was stirred with double distilled water for 6 days at 20.4 +/- 0.7°C (nominal concentration was 12 mg/l). The concentration of HATCOL 5127 in the supernatant after two, three and four successive times of centrifugation (3500 g, 5 min. and 20°C) was 86.7, 138 and 107 µg/l, respectively. The measured pH was after two, three and four successive times of centrifugation 8.1, 8.0 and 8.0, respectively.
Due to the experience with similar test substances (e.g. Hatcol 3365; see NOTOX project 382319) it was decided not to perform a main study. Taking all results into account, the water solubility of Hatcol 5127 at 20.4+/- 0.7°C is reported as < 0.14x10-3 g/l
Based on NOTOX experience with similar test substances, a more accurate determination of the water solubility for this kind of extremely apolar test substances (log Pow ≥ 7, see NOTOX project 388068 "Determination of the partition coefficient (N-octano1/water) of Hatcol 5127)" is impossible.
Conclusions:
A preliminary test was used to determine the water solubility of HATCOL 5127 which was based on the following guidelines:
OECD guideline for testing of chemicals no. 105 "Water Solubility", Adopted July 27, 1995.
EEC Direction 92/69 EEC, Part A, Methods for determination of physico-chemical properties, A.6: "Water solubility". EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992.

The water solubility of HATCOL 5127 at 20.4 +/- 0.7˚C is < 0.14 x 10-3 g/l, the pH was between 8.0-8.1

Description of key information
