First-aid measures
Take persons to a safe place. Observe self-protection for first aid. Always seek medical advice in the event of contact with this substance.
After inhalation:
Keep the patient calm. If unconscious place in stable sideways position. Protect against loss of body heat. If breathing stops,
administer artificial respiration. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.
After contact with the skin:
Remove contaminated clothes at once. Wash off with plenty of water or water and soap immediately for 10-15 minutes. In serious cases,
use emergency shower immediately. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.
After contact with the eyes:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 10-15 minutes. Keep eyelids well open to rinse the whole eye surface and eyelids with water.
Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance. Continue to bathe eyes during transport to medical practitioner.
After swallowing:
If conscious, give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.
Advice for the physician:
After inhalation: treat as early as possible using cortisone spray. Medical checks necessary up to a latency period of at least 24 hours. In the event of 1st degree burns use corticoid-externa. In the case of 2nd degree burns, use symptomatic treatment. Symptoms of poisoning may not become
apparent until after many hours - medical monitoring is therefore required for at least 48 hours after any accident. Product may cause cancer.
In the event of prolonged contact with the substance, long-term monitoring of relevant parameters is advisable.
Fire-fighting measures
Cool endangered containers with water.
Suitable extinguishing media:
water, extinguishing powder, alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide.
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:
According to our present state of knowledge none known.
Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases:
Hazardous combustion products: hydrogen chloride. At low oxygen level: highly toxic substances .
Special protective equipment for fire fighting:
Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.
Accidental release measures
Wear personal protection equipment. Task force: Use tightly fitting chemical protection suit. Keep unprotected
persons away. Take persons to a safe place. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale gases/vapours/aerosols. Observe wind direction.
Have any persons who are not involved in the spill response leave the area.
Environmental precautions:
Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material (e.g. earth). Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil.
Dispose of in prescribed marked containers. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
Methods for cleaning up:
Absorb with a liquid binding material such as diatomaceous earth and dispose of according to local/state/federal regulations.
For small amounts: Cover with calcium oxide. Contain larger amounts and pump up into suitable containers.
Handling and storage
Avoid exposure by technical measures or personal protective equipment.
Handling:
Precautions for safe handling:
Must be syphoned off in situ. Open and handle container with care. Avoid contact with alkaline substances.
Precautions against fire and explosion:
Cool endangered containers with water. Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process vessels,
including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces. Keep away from sources of ignition and do not smoke.
Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging.
Storage:
Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:
Store under protective gas. Identify sites and escape routes by suitable signs. Unsuitable material for storage containers, casks and pipelines: light
metals and their alloys, iron, steel, zinc. Suitable material for storage containerts, casks and pipelines: glass, enamel, titanium.
Test the suitability of materials for storage vessels, containers and piping.
Advice for storage of incompatible materials:
Observe national regulations in accordance with section 15. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
Further information for storage:
Keep in the original container in a cool well ventilated place. Keep container dry and tightly closed.
Minimum temperature allowed during storage and transportation: 15 °C
Maximum temperature allowed during storage and transportation: 25 °C
Temperature limit based on safety considerations.

Exposure controls / personal protection
-
Exposure limited and controlled:
Exposure in the work place limited and controlled:
General protection and hygiene measures:
Avoid exposure. Remove contaminated, soaked clothing immediately. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
Do not breathe vapours. Provide emergency shower and eye-bath. Wash hands at the end of work and before eating.
Personal protection equipment:
Respiratory protection:
Gas mask filter ABEK. In case of long or strong exposure: positive pressure self contained breathing apparatus.
Hand protection:
Protective gloves generally only suitable as splash protection. Protective gloves made of butyl rubber (0,5 mm) . Due to the substance‘s properties, contaminated gloves must be immediately decontaminated and changed. The permeation time is reduced by mechanical and thermal stresses above 20°C.
Eye protection:
tight fitting protective goggles.
Skin protection:
full protective suit.
Exposure to the environment limited and controlled:
Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil. If large amounts are introduced into sewerage inform responsible
authorities immediately.
Further information for system design and engineering measures:
Use only in closed systems.
Stability and reactivity
The decomposition rate is greatly lowered by transition metal compounds.
Conditions to avoid:
Keep away from incompatible substances.
Materials to avoid:
Reacts violently with basic substances. Reaction causes the formation of heat.
Hazardous decomposition products:
If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices and local regulations where applicable: none known.
Disposal considerations
Recommendation:
Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
Uncleaned packaging:
Recommendation:
Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used.
Observe local/state/federal regulations. Uncleaned packaging should be treated with the same precautions as the material.
