to earthworms under the experiment condition of this study. - Executive summary:
This study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of ZMAT Nwnber
4094103 to earthworm (Eisenia foetida).
Based on the result of preliminary test, the definitive study was conducted
with concentrations of 250.0, 354.0, 500.0, 707.0 and 1000 mg/kg dry soil weight.
Concurrent control groups were performed in parallel. For test and control groups,
four replicates were used with 10 earthworms in each replicate. Artificial soil was
used in this study. After 7 days and 14 days, behavioral or pathological symptoms
were recorded and the mortality in each container was assessed.
Mortality and toxic symptoms were found in higher concentrations; visible
toxic symptoms included abrupt twist, body softer, body fluid exosmosis, lose the
ability of escaping and thinned. In the control groups, no toxic sign and death
were found.
According 10 the mortality of the test, the 14-days LCso was 764.4 mglkg dry
.oil weight and 95% confidence limit were 724.1 to 807.0 mglkg dry ,oil weight
Based on the eco-toxicity grading criteria in the Guidelines for Hazard
Evaluation of New Chemical Substances, Enviromnental Protection Agency of
P.R.C. (HJrr 154-2004), the test item is graded as a chemical with low toxicity (O)
to earthworm under the experiment condition of this study.
