First-aid measures

General advice:

Ensure activity of vitally important functions. If danger of loss of consciousness, place/transport patient in the recovery position. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Inhalation:

Remove patient to fresh air and seek medical advice.

Skin contact:

Take off contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash thoroughly with soap and plenty of (lukewarm) water. Seek medical advice.

Eye contact:

Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running lukewarm water with eyelids held open. Seek medical advice.

Swallowing:

Never induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs spontaneously, hold patient head below the level of his hips in order to prevent aspiration of vomits. Seek professional medical help immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Substance on its own is not combustible. Choose the extinguishing agents according to the conditions in the immediate surrounding area.

Substance is placed on the market in the form of preparation (ca. 50% n-butanol and ca. 50% Iron(III)tris(4-methylbenzenesulfonate)

Suitable extinguishing media refer to preparation: Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Extinguishing media witch shall not be used for safety reasons:

Not known.

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance, combustion products, resulting gases:

Development of hazardous combustion gases or vapours possible in the event of fire.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

Self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing for fire fighting if necessary.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions

Avoid contact with the substance. Apply recommended full protective personal equipment to paralyse the accident. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Environmental precautions

Avoid contamination of surface- or groundwater.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Adsorb with appropriate adsorbent and store in a closed container. Dispose of under valid legal waste regulations by incineration in an appropriate incineration plant with flue gas scrubbing.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Normal measures for preventive fire protection. Use the recommended personal protective equipment and respect all instructions to prevent

possible contact with the substance through the skin, eye contact and inhalation. Ensure no release in the environment.
