The substance is not readily biodegradable under the conditions of the OECD guideline 301 B (18% biodegradation after 28 days based on ThCO2) . The degradation of the target substance in water and sediment in a simulation test was found to be 96 and 97%, respectively, after 100 days. In an additional simulation study, the degradation of ethiprole was between 87.6 - 89.5% after 365 days in the entire system of a natural pond water/sediment system. In both studies the substance was rapidly transferred from water to sediment and the half-life in the system was determined to be between 4 to 13.5 days (8.5 to 28.7 days, recalculated to 12 °C). In soil, the substance attained 89 to 100% degradation after 180 days and the half-life in soil was found to range from 10.5 to 71 days (22.4 to 236.4 days, recalculated to 12 °C).
