Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of 2-ethyl-2-(((1-oxoisooctadecyl)oxy)methyl)-1,3-propanediyl bis (isooctadecanoate) (CAS 68541-50-4) to aquatic invertebrates was tested by two available guideline studies. The key information is based on a GLP study accomplished according to OECD guideline 202 (Marshall, 1996). Daphnia magna were exposed to the test substance in a static test system. After 48 hours an EC50 > 7.6 mg/L based on the measured substance concentration was determined.
The results are supported by a second available study that was also conducted according to OECD guideline 202 (Bouillon, 2010). Similar to the key study a static test system was set up and the test organisms (Daphnia magna) were exposed to the substance for 48 hours. In this study the water accommodated fraction (WAF) of the test substance was used for the preparation of the test solutions. Based on the loading ratio of the test substance an EL50 > 0.11 g/L (nominal) was observed.

Therefore acute toxic effects on aquatic invertebrates are not expected within the range of the water solubility of the substance (< 0.05 mg/L).
