Executive summary:

The oxidising properties of the test material were investigated in a GLP study which was conducted in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.17. Powdered test material and cellulose were mixed in a 2:1 ratio and formed into a cone (approximately 3.5 cm diameter at the base and 2.5 cm high) on a non-porous, non-combustible board. The cone was ignited with an air-rich Bunsen burner flame and the mode, vigour and duration of the reaction recorded.

The cone immediately ignited and flared with a bright orange flame. The cone fully combusted within 2 seconds leaving a black fluffy residue. The test material was determined to have oxidising properties.

The oxidising properties of the test material were investigated in a GLP study which was conducted in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.17. The study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the principles for assessing data quality detailed by Klimisch et al (1997).

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, the test material requires classification for oxidising properties as Category 1 (H271; May cause fire or explosion, strong oxidiser).
