No data are available regarding toxicity effects to soil microorganisms of Benzenepropanoic acid, 3,5 -bis(1,1 -dimethylethyl)-4 -hydroxy-,C7 -9 branched alkyl esters (CAS 125643 -61 -0).
For the substance Butyl 3,5 -bis(1,1 -dimethylethyl)-4 -hydroxybenzenepropanoate (CAS 52449 -44 -2), which can be considered as read-across possibility, an experiment was conducted under certificated GLP compliance with reliability 1 (reliable without restriction).
The long-term effects of the substance after a single exposure and on nitrogen transformation activity of soil microorganisms after a single exposure were investigated (Clarke, 2009). The method followed that described in the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals (2000) No 216 “Soil Microorganisms: Nitrogen Transformation Test” referenced as Method C.21 of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008. Following a preliminary range-finding test soil microorganisms were exposed to the test material at a single concentration of 1000 mg/kg for 28 days at a temperature of approximately 21°C, in the dark with the addition of powdered Lucerne-green-grassmeal to act as a respiratory substrate. The inhibitory effect of the test material on nitrogen transformation was assessed by the determination of nitrate concentration in the soil samples on Days 0, 7 and 28 and compared to data obtained from control soil samples. The EC50 value was found to be greater than 1000 mg/kg. The corresponding No Observed Effect Concentration (NOEC) was 1000 mg/kg.Information on Registered Substances comes from registration dossiers which have been assigned a registration number.
