First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: In normal conditions, due to the negligible vapour pressure
of the components, the product can be inhaled only as a
mist. In this case remove the victim from exposure; keep at
rest; seek medical attention. If necessary use artificial
respiration and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Remove contact lenses, if present. Flush eyes with large
amounts of water, keeping eyelids well away from eyeball. If
irritation develops, seek medical attention, preferably by a
specialist.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contact clothing and shoes (wash clothing before
re-use: it could be advisable to destroy contaminated
shoes). Remove items such as rings and watches, if present.
Wash skin with soap and water. Do not use gasoline, kerosene
or solvents as cleaning agents.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting to avoid aspiration of product into
the lungs.If victim is conscious, give 1-2 glasses of water.
Seek medical attention.
ASPIRATION OF LIQUID INTO THE LUNGS: aspiration into the
lungs may happen either directly during ingestion, or
indirectly in case of natural or induced vomiting following
ingestion. In this case there is the risk of chemical
pneumonitis, a serious condition that requires medical
attention and may prove fatal. This condition is linked to
the mineral oil content of the product, and is not related
to the action of a single chemical entity. In this case the
victim must be taken to hospital. Treatment may include
symptomatic measures like antibiotics and anti-inflammatory
drugs (steroids).
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray (fog), dry chemicals, foam, carbon dioxide
(CO2). Direct water jets must not be used, as the burning
product will float on the water and cause splattering,
extending the fire.
Product arising from burning: COx, unburned hydrocarbons and zinc oxide.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Self-contained breathing apparatus with full face piece may
be required in closed spaces or if smoke is heavy.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: LAND SPILL: contain spilled liquid with sand, earth or other
suitable absorbents. Recover free liquid. Store in suitable
containers (waterproof, mineral oil resistant drums, or
similar). Recommended disposal method is by burning in
adequate facilities. Contained areas can be cleaned with
high pressure water or steam, or with detergents. According
to the quantities involved, it may be necessary to remove
contaminated soil.
WATER SPILL: confine spillage: Remove from surface by
skimming or suitable absorbents. Do not use solvents or
dispersants, unless advised by experts. Store recovered
material in suitable containers (waterproof, mineral oil
resistant drums or similar). Recommended disposal method is
by burning in adequate facilities.
Handling and storage
Handling: Handling should be carried out with essentially the same
methods that are used for mineral base stocks or finished
lubricants. The components of the product have a negligible
vapour pressure at ambient temperature, and in open or
ventilated spaces no special protection measures will be
needed. In closed spaces, if there is the possibility of
high pressure sprays producing mists, it is necessary to
provide aspirators or protection shields. In this case the
ACGIH exposure limit for mineral oil mists (5mg/m3) can be
used as a reference. Direct contact with skin is to be
avoided, as the mineral oil component has a defatting action
that may lead to irritation and dermatitis. Recommended
personal protection measures are: goggles or face shields,
long sleeved work clothes, mineral oil resistant gloves or
guantlets. Gloves must be felt lined to avoid the
possibility of dermatitis arising from plasticisers or other
substances in rubber or plastic.
Other hygiene measures are as follows: do not use dirty rags
to wipe hands, and do not store them in the pockets of the
work clothes. Do not eat, drink or smoke with dirty hands.
Wash hands before using toilet. Wash hands with water and
soap only. Do not use solvents or other substances with a
strong defatting action, as they increase the possibility of
irritation of the skin and dermatitis. If necessary use a
reconditioning cream after washing.
Storage: Store in a covered or closed area, away from ignition
sources, flames and sparks. Storage temperature: ambient up
to 65°C. Although contact with water does not cause
dangerous reactions, it will cause a degradation of the
product by hydrolysis (formation of zinc hydroxide).
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The product will be shipped only to professional users, by
tanks, containers or drums. Containers must be made of
waterproof, mineral oil resistant material.

Special provisions / remarks
- Remarks:
- Transport: The product does not have dangerous properties according to
the definitions laid out by the RID/ADR agreement, IMO or
IATA. Therefore it is not classified by itself as dangerous
for transportation, either by road/rail, ship or air. It is
not expected to attack or damage materials like steel or
aluminium normally used in construction of tanks and
vessels. Shipping tanks or containers must be made of a
material that is waterproof and mineral oil resistant.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: This substance presents not special dangers.
Chemical reaction with water: Contact with water does not cause dangerous reactions.
Dust explosion: This product has a negligible vapour pressure and in
ordinary conditions the Lower and Upper Explosive Limits
have no practical meaning. In case of accidental high
pressure sprays, the mineral oil mist may form an explosive
atmosphere: in this case the Lower explosive limit is about
45 grams per cubic meter.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is used as an additive for lubricants and
greases. Therefore there is no practical possibility to
recover or recycle the used substance as such. Used
lubricants can be re-refined to recover the base stock but
not the additives. The residue can be destroyed by
incineration or controllled combustion.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None specifically.
