Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In two tests, the water solubility of phenol, styrenated was tested analysing the substance concentration in water accommodated fractions. Substance concentrations at different loadings were variable. The highest concentration without any indication of undissolved material was taken as solubility limit.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
31.8 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Water solubility of phenol, styrenated was determined in the course of aquatic toxicity testing. Water accommodated fractions were prepared for different tests by mixing various amounts of test substance with dilution water (reconstituted water). The aqueous phase was carefully separated and the concentration in the aqueous phase determined by measurement of the TOC values. The highest concentration measured without any indication of not dissolved test material was taken as water solubility of the test substance phenol, styrenated.

Aqueous concentrations of TOC were converted to test substance concentrations using a carbon content of 85.66% for the test substance (calculated from molecular weights and percentage of test substance components).

From the preceding data, the water solubility of phenyl, styrenated is taken as 31.8 mg/L.
