Skin irritation


A recent reliable in vitro skin corrosivity test on reconstructed human epidermis model is avavilable. The model, EPISKINTM(SM) is designed to predict and classify the corrosive potential of chemicals by measuring its cytotoxic effect as reflected in the MTT (3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay (detailed in 9.7. section). The corrosivity of the test item was evaluated according to the OECD No. 431 guideline. Results indicated that Sodium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide is not corrosive to the skin.


Eye irritation


A recent reliable study in vitro eye irritation study on isolated chicken’s eyes is available. The study was conducted and irritation effects of the test item were evaluated according to the OECD No. 438 guideline (2018). Based on this in vitro eye irritation assay in isolated chicken eyes with Sodium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide, the test item was severe irritant, UN GHS classification: Category 1.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance Sodium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide is classified "Highly irritating to eyes" (Category 1, H318) according to the CLP regulation 1272/2008.
