Additional information
One long-term and one short term study are available testing the toxicity of Amines, N-C10-C16-alkyltrimethylenedi-, reaction products with chloroacetic acid to terrestrial macroorganisms.
The log-term study assessed the effects on adult earthworms of the species Eisenia andrei according to the OECD 222 guideline. For this, the worms were placed in a defined artificial soil substrate containing the test item in different concentrations. A single application of test item was made at the beginning of the test. Effects on mortality and biomass were determined after 28 days, the effects on reproduction were determined after 56 days. The test item was applied in concentrations of 313, 625, 1250, 2500 and 5000 mg/per kg dry mass soil, representing 60.9, 122, 244, 488 and 975 mg a.i./kg, respectively.
No increased mortality was found due to nominal 5000 mg/kg dry soil, representing 975 mg a.i./kg. No significant influence on weight change was found due to nominal 5000 mg test item per kg dry soil, representing 975 mg a.i./kg, which was the highest concentration tested. The nominal NOEC for reproduction was found to be 1250 mg/kg dry soil, representing 244 mg a.i./kg.
In the short-term study the effect of Amines, N-C10-C16-alkyltrimethylenedi-, reaction products with chloroacetic acid on survival of adult earthworms of the species Eisenia fetida was investigated according to OECD Guideline 207 and EC method C.8. The worms were placed in a defined artificial soil substrate containing the test item in nominal concentrations of 1.64, 4.1, 10.24, 25.6, 64, 160, 400, and 1000 mg active substance per kg dry soil. The test item was incorporated into the test soil at the beginning of the experiment, and the effects on biomass and mortality were determined after 14 days.
There was no mortality, neither in the controls nor at any test concentration up to the limit test concentration of 1000 mg a.s./kg dry soil. The NOEC for the tested species was found to be >/= 1000 mg a.s./kg dry soil. There was no statistically significant influence of Amines, N-C10-C16-alkyltrimethylenedi-, reaction products with chloroacetic acid on body weight change up to the limit test concentration of 1000 mg a.s./kg dry soil. The NOEC for the tested species was found to be >/= 1000 mg a.s./kg dry soil.
