Justification for type of information:
A skin corrosion test is in progress, with the final report expected in July 2018. The basis for suspecting that the substance is corrosive is the harmonised classification of cyclohexylamine as Skin Corr. 1B. Benzoic acid is classified as Skin Irrit. 2.
Should the Skin corrosion test return a negative result a skin irritation study will be performed. As per REACH Annex VII 8.2 Column 2 an eye irritation study would not be required if the substance is classified as skin corrosive or irritant, in which case a classification of Serious Eye Damage (Category 1) or Eye Irrisation (Category 2) may be applicable.
