Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

conscious with labored breathing: half-seated. Victim in shock: on his back with legs slightly raised.

Vomiting: prevent asphyxia/aspiration pneumonia. Prevent cooling by covering the victim (no warming up). Keep watching the victim. Give psychological aid. Keep the victim calm, avoid physical strain. Depending on the victim's condition: doctor/hospital.

Inhalation: Remove the victim into fresh air. Immediately consult a doctor/medical service

Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing immediately. Wash immediately with lots of water (15 minutes)/shower. Consult a doctor/ medical service.

Eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Do not apply neutralizing agents. Take victim to an ophthalmologist.

Ingestion: Give nothing to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Immediately consult a doctor/ medical service.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing media: Water spray. Polyvalent foam. Alcohol-resistant foam. BC powder. Carbon dioxide.

Inappropriate extinguishing media: Solid water jet ineffective as extinguishing medium.

Particular dangers, products of combustion: On burning: release of toxic and corrosive gases/vapours (hydrogen chloride, carbon monoxide - carbon dioxide).

Protection against fire: Gloves. Protective goggles. Head/neck protection. Protective clothing. Large spills/in enclosed spaces: compressed air apparatus. Heat/fire

Exposure: compressed air/oxygen apparatus. Dilute toxic gases with water spray. Use water moderately and if possible collect or contain it. Take account of environmentally hazardous. Firefighting water. Cool tanks/drums with water spray/remove them into safety. Do not move the load if exposed to heat.

Accidental release measures

Personal protection: Keep upwind. Seal off low-lying areas. Close doors and windows of adjacent premises. Stop engines and no smoking. No naked flames or sparks.

Spark- and explosion proof appliances and lighting equipment. Keep containers closed.

Emergency procedures : Take away any source of inflammation, have a good ventilation, evacuate the high-risk area

Environmental precautions: do not dispose to the sewer, or in the natural environment. Contain released substance, pump into suitable containers. Plug the leak, cut off the supply. Dam up the liquid spill. Try to reduce evaporation.

Prevent soil and water pollution.

Cleaning procedures: Take up liquid spill into absorbent material, e.g.: sand, earth, vermiculite. Scoop absorbed substance into closing containers. Carefully collect the spill/leftovers. Damaged/cooled tanks must be emptied. Do not use compressed air for pumping over spills. Clean contaminated surfaces with an excess of water. Take collected spill to manufacturer/competent authority. Wash clothing and equipment after handling.

Handling and storage

Handling :

Appropriate technical measures: Use spark-/explosion proof appliances and lighting system. Take precautions against electrostatic charges. Keep away from naked flames/heat.

Keep away from ignition sources/sparks. Gas/vapor heavier than air at 20°C. Observe very strict hygiene - avoid contact. Keep container tightly closed. Remove contaminated clothing immediately. Do not discharge the waste into the drain.

Recommendations against the fires and the explosions: Not available

Advises for industrial hygiene:

-       Do not eat, drink, or smoke in working area

-       Hands wash himself after every use

-       Remove the contaminated clothes and the equipment of protection before entering the canteen

Storage :

Appropriate technical measures: Not available

Conditions of storage: Keep locked up. Provide for a tub to collect spills. Provide the tank with earthling. Unauthorized persons are not admitted. Meet the legal requirements. Ventilation at floor level. Keep out of direct sunlight.

Incompatibles materials: Oxidizing agents.

Packaging materials: Polyethylene.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: May be ignited by sparks. Gas/ vapors spreads at floor level: ignition hazard

Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.

Hazardous reactions : Not available

Conditions to be avoided: Use spark/explosion proof appliances and lighting system. Take precautions against electrostatic charges. Keep away from naked

Flames/heat. Keep away from ignition sources/sparks.

Incompatibility: Oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: On burning: release of toxic and corrosive gases/vapors (hydrogen chloride, carbon monoxide - carbon dioxide).

Disposal considerations

Provisions relating to waste: Waste material code (Directive 2008/98/EC, decision 2001/118/EC). 16 03 05* (organic wastes containing dangerous substances). Depending on branch of industry and production process, also other EURAL codes may be applicable. Hazardous waste according to Directive 2008/98/EC.

Disposal methods: Remove to an incinerator for chlorinated waste materials with energy recovery. Remove waste in accordance with local and/or national regulations. Hazardous waste shall not be mixed together with other waste. Different types of hazardous waste shall not be mixed together if this may entail a risk of pollution or create problems for the further management of the waste. Hazardous waste shall be managed responsibly. All entities that store, transport or handle hazardous waste shall take the necessary measures to prevent risks of pollution or damage to people or animals. Do not discharge into surface water. Do not discharge into the sewer.

Packaging/Container: Waste material code packaging (Directive 2008/98/EC).

15 01 10* (packaging containing residues of or contaminated by dangerous substances).
