Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
The substance is a UVCB of organic origin. It is a liquid at room temperature with a transparent, brownish colour and an extremely strong, pungent odour, which is earthy and solvent like. The relative density of the liquid is 0.934. The freezing temperature is less than -20 °C and the boiling temperature is 154 °C. The pH value of a 1% (w/v) aqueous solution of the substance is 9.1 at 25 °C. The kinematic viscosity of the liquid was determined to be 0.799 mm2/s at 40 °C. The surface tension was determined to be 69.7 mN/m at 20 °C.
The vapour pressure of the substance is 453 Pa at 20 °C. The water solubility of the substance at 20 °C is at least 501 g/L and the log Kow value of the substance is in the range from 1.09 to 2.08. A water solubility of 501 g/L at 20 °C and a log Kow value of 2.08 will be used in the chemical safety assessment of the substance.
The flash point of the substance was 45 °C. The substance did not release flammable gases on contact with water and did not ignite spontaneously on contact with air. The autoflammability was determined to be 540 °C. The heat of decomposition, as determined with an appropriate DSC method, was 90 J/g, which is clearly below the cut-off values for self-reaction (300 J/g) and explosive properties (500 J/g). Based on the absence of oxygen, chlorine or fluorine in the chemical structure, the substance is assessed to be non-oxidising.
