- Executive summary:
Measurement of the auto-ignition temperature of 1,1,1-trifluoroacetone was performed according to standardised guidelines ( EU A.15, DIN 51794 and IEC 79-4) under GLP conditions, using a commercially auto-ignition temperature apparatus.
The test item, 1,1,1-trifluoroacetone, is auto-ignitable with an auto-ignition temperature of 415°C at approximately 1000 hPa.
Reference
Preliminary test
The estimated auto-ignition temperature was 440°C.
Main study
Ignition of the test item within 5 minutes after introduction was observed with each sample volume and with each test a minimum auto-ignition temperature was obtained. The maximum deviation between the three values was < 20°C. According to the gauidelines, no further testing was required.
The lowest temperature at which ignition of the test item occurred was 419°C. This temperature was rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5°C giving an auto-ignition temperature of the test item of 415°C.
The results of the main study on the determination of the auto-ignition temperature of the test item are given in the following Table.
