Ecotoxicological information

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

Administrative data

Endpoint:
toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Study period:
27 to 30 August 2004
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Justification for type of information:
The objective of the study is to assess the effects of 428 Base brute, on the growth of an unicellular green algal species Scenedesmus subspicatus, in a 72 hour static test. The criterion estimated is the EC50 (Median effect concentration), a statistically derived concentration of the test item in water which can be expected to cause a reduction of growth or growth rate of 50% in the treated algal populations relative to control.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The highest concentration without effects on algal at 72h was 10mg/L based on growth and biomass.

The 0-72h CE50r and 0-72h CE50b were between 10 to 100mg/L
