Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Physico-chemical properties of the registered substance were determined from experimental testing. Some endpoints were waived, based on chemical structure of the known constituents (mainly composed of mono and dieposidised isomers) and experience in use.

The substance is a pale yellow liquid at ambient temperature, with low volatility.

In water, it is slightly soluble, and slightly less dense, so expected to floate. Despite the standardised EU.A5 test shows surface-active potential under the experimental conditions, it is not considered as a true surfactant, due to the chemical structure of the substance and non-intended use.

It has potential for bioaccumulation.

It is NOT classified as hazardous with regard to physical hazards (flammability, explosivity, oxidising properties and organic peroxide) based on CLP and GHS criteria.

* As the result is below the threshold value of 60mN/m and even if the equilibrium may be not reached, the substance is expected to have surface active potential under the experimental conditions based on EUA5 criteria.

However considering that the structure of the known constituents of the substance are not characteristic of true surfactants and that it is not the intended use of the substance (i.e. not a desired property), this conclusion should be taken with caution.

Slight variations are possible with composition (UVCB substance).
