PREPARATION OF SOLUTIONS
Stock solutions of the reference substances at concentrations of approximately 1 g/L in methanol were used. The stock solutions were diluted to obtain an end solution of 30/70 (v/v) methanol/phosphate buffer pH 7.
A 3044 mg/L stock solution of the test substance was prepared in 30/70 (v/v) methanol/phosphate buffer pH 7. The stock solution was diluted with similar solvent to obtain a final concentration of 304 mg/l.
A 4.81 g/L stock solution of the unretained compound formamide (99.8%) in methanol was used. The stock solution was diluted to obtain an end solution of 30/70 (v/v) methanol/phosphate buffer pH 7. - Type:
- log Koc
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- Remarks on result:
- other: log Koc is <1.26, 1.55 and 2.89 with peak area: 22, 36 and 15 %, respectively
- Details on results (HPLC method):
- In the HPLC chromatogram of the test solution, three major constituents at 22 %, 36 % and 15 % and several small impurity peaks (i.e. <10 %) were observed. Individual results: see table below. The equation of the regression line was: log k’ = 0.485 x log Koc– 1.11 (r = 0.95, n = 14).
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- not applicable
- Conclusions:
- The log Koc values for the 3 major components (representing 73 % of the substance) in FAT 40854/A are <1.26, 1.55 and 2.89. The log Koc values for 13 minor components (each representing <10 % of the substance) ranges from <1.26 to 3.66.
- Executive summary:

Additional information
In a GLP-compliant study, an adsorption/ desorption screening test with FAT 40854/A was carried out according to EU method C.19 and OECD 121. The log Koc values for the 3 major components (representing 73 % of the substance) in FAT 40854/A are <1.26, 1.55 and 2.89. The log Koc values for 13 minor components (each representing <10 % of the substance) ranges from <1.26 to 3.66. As a worst case assumption, the higher Koc value (major constituent III: Koc 780, log Koc 2.89) among the three major constituents was taken ahead for risk assessment purposes.
