Description of key information
The water solubility of the test item was determined to be less than 1.14E-05 g/L of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5°C (OECD 105 and EU Method A.6).

GUIDELINE
The determination was carried out using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.6 Water Solubility of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.
METHOD
As the test item was expected to melt and become a liquid at the 30 °C shaking temperature, it was concluded that the flask method would be the most suitable for determination of water solubility. The ion chosen for analysis by mass spectrometry represented the main component of the test item as provided by the sponsor.
RESULTS
On completion of the equilibration period, the samples were visually clear, colourless solutions with excess test item present and no definitive Tyndall beam effect after filtration.
The preliminary result was higher than the definitive test result and this may have been because the definitive test samples were filtered through 0.2 µm compared to 0.45 µm for the preliminary sample. It had been considered that the preliminary result may have been slightly high when compared to the estimated solubility using WSKOW v1.42 of 0.004 mg/L. As the definitive samples fell below the range of the standards, it was considered better to report the definitive result as a limit value based on the lowest standard concentration. This also accounts for any induced error at the low end of the calibration plot.

The water solubility of the test item was determined to be less than 1.14 E-05 g/L of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C.
