Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The negative results obtained in the referenced studies are considered worst-case since the test material used in these studies (manganese chloride) is more readily available due to its much higher solubility compared to the registered substance (trimanganese tetraoxide).

Short description of key information:
A critical analysis of all available literature showed no genetic toxicity for the substance. This conclusion is confirmed also with three standard in-vitro tests (IUCLID sections 8.4.1, 8.4.2 and 8.4.3)

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

All in vitro genotoxicity tests conducted in accordance with REACH regulation were negative and an additional in vivo mouse micronucleus test supports this non-classification.
