Additional information

FAT 41029/A was investigated for its ready biodegradability in the "Manometric Respirometry Test" according to OECD No. 301F. The biodegradation of test item after 28 days was 0 %. In the toxicity control, containing both FAT 41029/A and the reference compound, the biodegradation after 14 days was 78 % and after 28 days was 73 %. In the procedure controls, the reference compound was readily biodegraded by an average of 87 % after 14 days of exposure in a 10-day window within the 28-day test period, and showed an average biodegradation rate of 89 % by the end of the test. The degradation in the abiotic control after 28 days was 5 %. Thus, the test item FAT 41029/A was not readily biodegradable after 28 days of incubation.

The Chemical Oxygen Demand test of FAT 41029/A was performed under GLP compliance according to DIN 38409 - H 41-1 (1980) and Commission Directive 92/69/EEC, Annex L 383 A, C.6. (edition 1992). The result showed the COD of the test item FAT 41029/A was 1094 mg O2/g.

From the above two studies, the BOD5/COD (BOD5 = 40 mg O2/g, COD=1094 mg O2/g ) was 0.04, which also means the test substance was not biodegradable.

In conclusion, the test item FAT 41029/A was not readily biodegradable.
