Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

For the evaluation of this endpoint data from the CRC Handbook were used as key information, supported by the information from the IARC Monographs on the Evaluation of Carcinogenic Risks to Humans.

According to ECHA, guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment – chapter R.7a, specific handbook data for physic-chemical properties are considered to be a reliable data source. Useful reference books and data compilations containing peer reviewed physico-chemical data include the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics.

Data from these two handbooks show that disodium disulfite is very soluble in water. The solubility is given for three different temperatures:

- 540 g/L measured at 20 °C,

- 667 g/L measured at 25 °C, and

- 817 g/L measured at 100 °C.

However, no pH value was given for the water solubility of disodium disulfite.
