Description of key information

There is no indication from the existing studies on CMR- toxicity that strontium ferrite has toxicity referring to CMR endpoints. There is no widespread dispersive use of strontium ferrite nor of frequent or long-term human exposure (see i.a. study on toxicokinetic behaviour). Too, the substance is not classified as mutagenic category 3 nor is there evidence that the substance is able to induce hyperplasia and/or pre-neoplastic lessons.
Therefore, in accordance with Annex X 8.9.1 column 2 and because of reasons of animal welfare, no study on carcinogenicity is necessary.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification is not required as there is no indication of carcinogenic effects by strontium ferrite.
