Description of key information

The test substance, Pentamethyldiethylentriamine, was tested for growth inhibition on algae Desmodesmus subspicatus.
The test was performed according to method C.3. - Freshwater Algae and Cyanobacteria, Growth Inhibition Test, Commission Regulation (EC) No. 761/2009, Annex IV. The test was performed with analytical determination of concentrations of test substance in medium for algae.
The study was carried out in accordance with internationally valid GLP principles.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
78.3 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
40.2 mg/L

Additional information

For chemical safety assessment the values of ErC50 and ErC10 (basis for effect: growth rate) were used.

Test results:

72 hour - ErC50 = 78.3 mg/L  (nominal concentration)     95% confidence limit: 66.6 - 90.0 mg/L

72 hour - EyC50 = 42.1 mg/L  (nominal concentration)     95% confidence limit: 37.1 - 47.1 mg/L

72 hour - NOECr = 42 mg/L    (nominal concentration)

72 hour - NOECy < 35 mg/L    (nominal concentration)

72 hour - ErC10 = 40.2 mg/L   (nominal concentration)    95% confidence limit: 26.9 - 48.6 mg/L
